Snow Salad

A friend asked me to post this recipe, so here it is! I don't know anyone who doesn't like this one.

Snow Salad
Snow:
1 pkg (1/4 oz) unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
1 cup boiling water
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups (16 oz) sour cream
8 ounces Cool Whip
Dissolve gelatin in cold water, then add boiling water and stir to dissolve. Add sugar and vanilla and stir well to dissolve. Wisk in sour cream until mixture is smooth. Blend in Cool Whip. Pour into 6 cup mold and refrigerate overnight.
Sauce:
1 pkg Salada Danish Dessert mix
2 - 10 oz cartons frozen strawberries or raspberries
Drain berries and save liquid. Follow directions on Danish Dessert box, using liquid from berries with water to equal amount called for, to make sauce.
Serve slices of snow, with sauce poured over top.
This makes a very pretty salad when made in a mold, but can also be poured into a 9x13 pan and cut into squares.
*This salad rates a 10 at our house.

mari, this salad came out just fantastic. it is now a 10 in our house. i made the snow saturday (in a 9 x 13) for serving maybe sunday and sunday we were gone all day so it sat in the frig until yesterday. i made the strawberries yesterday. the salad is now 1/2 gone and only 3 of us are around to eat it. don't ask me how many slices i have eaten because i might have to lie. thanks for helping me along the way with it. ~janel
